The Departure of Master Ooi Keat Chye
Dated 14 April 2010, Mr Ooi Keat Chye has ascended his way to Heaven. Leaving a legacy filling with spiritual of Tao, he has been a remarkable Taoist priest in Penang, undeniable to be the most senior and most experienced Master. Starting to earn his knowledge from his then loving father, Mr Ng Mah Kim, he has make his way until he headed the Kim Chim Tuah, the oldest Taoism Priest Centre in Penang when the latter brother passed away in the year 2008.
The Kim Chim Tuah has indeed been part of the local history in Penang when it deals with spiritual and healing. Beginning from year 1950, founded by the priest from China, Mr Ng Mah Kim, it is not only dealing with rituals for the death and prayers to the deities, it has also been a centre for healing and recovery centre for the poor and sick ones. Today, if you are walking down the Macullum Street and mentioned about Kim Chim Tuah and Mr Ng Mah Kim, it is the most unlikely that anyone in their later 60s will not know this two figures.
Until today, Kim Chim Tuah is still serving as a centre of spiritual. Holding on the belief to its main master, Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad, it has provided peace and harmony to anyone and everyone that seek help.
Therefore, the departure of Mr Ooi Keat Chye, has caused a big loss either to Kim Chim Tuah and the people, generally. He has been the Chairperson and run his duty earnestly and honestly. He has gain respect and honour from not only the people but other Taoist Priest like him. It is all seen and said when all Taoist priest has took the privilege to pay their last respect and honour him as a great Priest of Tao.
Although he has lost, but his hand-over to his nephew, Mr Ooi Sin Leong, will continue to mark the continuation of legacy of Kim Chim Tuah and continue serving its purpose to the force of Yin and Yang.
Mr Ooi Keat Chye was buried on the 20th of April 2010. May the soul rest in peace under the will and protection of deities.
